There will be no eviction drive in Kheroni reserve forest: Karbi CEM

Donkamokam, Dec 14: There has been mispropaganda and speculation in the past few days in the aftermath of the Amchang eviction by the State Government and Lahorijan eviction initiated by KAAC, that similar eviction will be carried out under Kheroni Proposed Grazing Reserve (PGR) in Karbi Anglong. “The people who have been living for many decades under Kheroni PGR need not worry as there will be no eviction,” KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang said this at Kheroni in West Karbi Anglong on Thursday. “There will be eviction of people residing in the inter-State border as they have encroached upon the border land and even own pattas illegally in Karbi Anglong,” he further said.

He asked the people of Karbi Anglong to cooperate with the KAAC authorities in order to protect the boundary and integrity of Karbi Anglong. Ronghang also laid a series of foundation stones for black topping of Kheroni Chariali to Mailoo Road sanctioned from Annual Action Plan Budget 2017-18, KAAC (8.50 km stretched road) to be topped with estimated amount of Rs 2.14 crore, Vivah Bhavan at Lambapathar (under Amreng MAC Constituency) under KAAC Special Package to be constructed with an estimated amount of Rs 50 lakh, Dimasa Cultural Hall at Hajagafer (Kopili MAC constituency) with an amount of Rs 20 lakh, Multi-utility Building at waibeel (Kopili MAC Constituency) under KAAC Special Package to be constructed from the sanctioned amount of Rs 30 lakh, CC Block Pavement road from Jiribasa to Betapara from MAC Development Fund 2017-18 from the estimated amount of Rs 9 lakh and a community hall at Kheronighat with an estimated amount of Rs 10 lakh from MAC Development Plan in presence of KAAC chairman Horensing Bey, EM Jagatsing Engti, MACs KAAC Pawan Kr Ray, Longki Timung, Ramsing Timung, Lunsing Teron and Ri Terangpi.
