Silchar, Nov 22: Despite the chaotic condition created due to demonetization drive, things in the town are well in order. Speaking to The Sentinel, at his office, Rakesh Roushan, IPS, the Superintendent of Police, Cachar, said, “We are keeping vigilance on each and every detail that may have direct or indirect connection with black money. We are alert and see that nothing untoward incident takes place.” Rakesh Roushan has taken the new charge just a couple of weeks ago. He further told that if there is any hint of danger in any areas or it is heard that people with huge amount of cash have been staying at any hotel, prompt action would be taken.
“We keep on checking the registers of the hotels from time to time in order to ensure that none can enter without proper checking or with invalid documents and huge cash,” said Jagadish Das, Additiol Superintendent of Police, Cachar. The residents of the town have been suffering from the mece of vehicular traffic and overcrowded streets. At present, this problem has been solved to a huge extent. “Public cooperation is must for making any scheme successful. People have cooperated, which in turn has made the problem appear diminutive. There is a shopping mall, a Big Bazaar, and lot many areas where there is no space for parking vehicles. People are forced to park vehicles elsewhere. It leads to congestion.”  Arresting five persons involved in the illegal cough syrup trade added another feather in his cap. In this regard, Rakesh Roushan said, “We are delightful that we could b these culprits from Silcoorie and recovered 2,650 bottles of cough syrup and 1 kg of ganja.” The Additiol SP further said that the administration is happy with the general people without whose cooperation; traffic problem would not have been solved to a huge extent.
