Third and final phase of polls in Assam recorded a polling of 71.47%

Guwahati: 71.47% polling recorded till 5 PM in Assam in the four constituencies of Barpeta, Dhubri, Kokrajhar and Gauhati in the third and final phase of Lok Sabha polls.

Dhubri has been recorded with 78.94% polling till 5 PM, while Kokrajhar (ST) records with 70.31%, Barpeta 72.47% and Gauhati turns out with 65.28% polling today in the final phase of general elections in Assam.

Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh along with his wife Gurucharan Kaur also casts their vote at Dispur Higher Secondary School under Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency.

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with his wife Riniki Bhuyan also casts their vote at Amingaon High School polling station.

In Gauhati, the polling percentage in 4 LAC of Kamrup Metropolitan district till 5 pm at 51 Jalukbari constituency recorded with 69% while at 52 Dispur constituency, the polling recorded with 61%. In 53 Guwahati East constituency, 59.3% polling was recorded while in 54 West Gauhati constituency, the voter turnout was 62.25%.

The polling has been conducted at 9577 polling stations and 7477062 electors are eligible to cast their votes.

It has been seen that many youth voters have come out to cast their vote as they wish a strong and determined government. The number of youth voters in Phase III polls are 2320149. In between 18-19 years of age there are 2,92,742 youth voters and 20,27,407 voters in the age group between 20-29 years in Assam.
