Third force politicizing Dokmoka incident: Sonowal

JORHAT, June 14: “People are urged not to create panic by spreading rumours and to move away from superstitious beliefs. Instead, they should follow the teachings of Sankardeva which will help them lead a positive life with a positive mind,” said Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while replying to queries from the media during his Jan Sampakarik Abhiyan in Jorhat on Thursday. The Chief Minister said the main culprit of the Dokmoka incident had been arrested along with 30 others and more would be arrested soon. “Law will take its own course and we cannot interfere in this. The issue has been politicalized by a third force,” he added. The trial will take place in a fast-track court. The Chief Minister urged people to cooperate with the administration and not to panic.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, as part of the Jan Sampakarik Abhiyan (the Public Relation Mission), called on prominent personalities from Jorhat city - Shashi Prova Borgohain, educationist-cum-director of Jonaki Sangha Vidhayala, and educationists Dr. Mukul Chaliha and Dr Anjana Chaliha. He interacted with them and listened to their suggestions for greater development of the State. He spent for over half-an-hour at the Jail Road residence of Shashi Prova Borgohain, wife of Group Captain Banshi Borgohain, the kin of Pandit Krishna Kanta Handique and cousin of former Union Minister Bijoy Krishna Handique, on Thursday.

The Chief Minister also called on prominent educationists from Jagannath Barooah College Dr. Mukul Chaliha, former Head of the Department of Physics who retired as Principal of the college, and his wife Dr. Anjana Chaliha who is also the former Principal of the college and Head of the Department of Philosophy. Sonowal went through the writings of Dr Mukul Chaliha which he had written after his retirement from the college. Dr. Chaliha praised the Chief Minister for his dynamic leadership and further hoped that he would do more for the development of the State in the coming years. Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Shantanu Pujari, Jorhat district BJP president, and several other personalities was present. The Chief Minister then left for Sivasagar.
