Third hospital hit in Syria's Aleppo within 24 hours

Beirut, Nov 15: Unidentified warplanes on Tuesday launched air strikes on a hospital in Syria’s northern city of Aleppo, according to a British war monitoring group. The hospital was the third one to have been attacked within 24 hours, EFE news reported. One person died and several were injured, including patients and staff members, when the Baghdad Hospital in Awaijel village came under attack, according to the Syria Observatory for Human Rights. The building sustained significant damage and was left uble to operate. Images posted on social media by the Syria Civil Defence in Aleppo — a group commonly referred to as the White Helmets — claimed to show scenes from the destroyed hospital. Some of the patients had reportedly been transferred there on Monday from two other hospitals in Aleppo’s al-Atarib and Kafr ya districts after they came under attack. The attacks coincide with an increase in aerial bombardments in the Aleppo area as government forces seek to intensify their operation to regain territory lost to rebel fighters at the end of October.  (IANS)
