Thongdok calls for inculcating discipline, work culture

ITAGAR, July 23: Aruchal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker T N Thongdok on Friday flagged-off two 42-seater buses from the APSTS bus station here for Guwahati via Kalaktang.

Thongdok, who on his first visit to the district after assuming the charges of the speaker, was accompanied by local MLA Japu Deru, DC Sol Swaroop, APSTS general mager Abu Tayeng and SP A Koan on the occasion, an official report informed here today.

Congratulating the people of Kalaktang assembly segment, Thongdok stated that with the introduction of the buses the long felt demands of the local people has been fulfilled. He, however, cautioned that collective efforts from both public and the department were needed for its maintence.

“The departmental staffs and officers also need to imbibe discipline and work culture in order to provide better services to the people,” said the speaker adding, in due course of time, threeTata Sumos would also be provided to the district in order to improve the connectivity.

Deru in his address while observing that the state transport services was a revenue generating department, said that endeavors should be made to strengthen the revenue generating mechanism and most importantly, to plug the revenue leakages.  He called upon the people to co-operate with the department simply by adhering to the laid down rules and regulations.

Terming it as a huge sigh of relief, DC Swaroop hoped that with the introduction of the buses, the surface communication in the area has taken a great leap forward which not only would facilitate easy mobility but would also facilitate growth in education, health, business and other sectors which lagged behind so far.

Earlier, General Mager (APSTS) Abu Tayeng said that his earlier stints in the district in various capacities had helped him to know the ground realities and as such the long felt need and dream to connect the Kalaktang assembly segment with the rest of the world has come true with the introduction of these buses.

He further appealed the people to avoid ticketless travel and chip in their bit to keep the services afloat and to strengthen the department with their co-operation.

Among others, administrative officers, HoDs, DCC (I) president, public leaders, ZPM Kalaktang and public were present during the flagging-off ceremony, the report added.
