Thousands take part in Rath Yatra at Diphu

HOWRAGHAT, July 18: With the rest of the country, thousands of devotees joined the centuries-old Rath Yatra festival associated with Lord Jaganth, which is being observed on Saturday at Diphu and its adjoining towns like Howraghat, Bakalia, Dokmoka and Bokajan.

Thousands of devotees on the occasion of Rath Yatra, had occupied their positions along the Diphu town starting from Barowari Temple to Sri Krish (ISCON) temple. Numbers of majestically decorated chariots carrying idols of deities basically Lord Jaganth, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra and these decorated deities were towed later in the day.  It may be mentioned here that including Diphu town several other areas like Howraghat Bakalia, Dokmoka and Bokajan annually celebrated the religious festival and the three deities took part in a chariot procession.

According to reports received, this year too the Rath Yatra is carried out across the district in huge religious importance locations. Adequate measures was  taken up by police administration to ensure the mega event passes off smoothly. A very meticulous plan involving both civilians and police had gone into arrangement of the festival.
