Three arrested

Biswath Chariali, April 8: Three persons, including an Associate Professor of  Biswath College, were arrested by police on Sunday in connection with the physical torture of a youth.  According to information, the trio - Safiur Rahman, Biswajit Bhagawati and Raktim Bhuyan - had allegedly beaten up one Chiraj Alam of Goaltoli under Biswath Chariali police station inside the college campus on Thursday, accusing him of using Rahman’s niece’s photograph on social media. The incident was captured on mobile phone and the video went viral. The injured boy had to be later admitted in hospital.  A case was registered in Biswath Chariali police station bearing number 77/18 under sections of IPC 363, 342, 325, 307 and 34, following which they were arrested. The police are investigating the matter.
