Three arrested for looting train passengers

Bongaigaon, May 2: Three persons who allegedly looted railway passengers with the help of drugged biscuits, were bbed by the CID branch of RPF on Friday night from the Kamakhya – Dhubri passenger train.

These persons have been identified as Faizuddin (25), a resident of Paharpur Katali village under Baghbor PS of Barpeta district, Zulmat Ali (19), a resident of Manikpur Satrakara village under Baghbor PS of Barpeta district and Asadul Islam (21), a resident of Barkaliza Surjamoni village under South Salmara PS of Dhubri district. Some intoxicating tablets and powder were recovered from them. They confessed that they had been looting passengers by giving them drugged biscuits.

The IC, New Bongaigaon GRP said that on Friday night the three persons had targeted a man med Momil Haque (26), a resident of Salmara village under Bilasipara PS  of Dhubri district. “Momil Haque was coming by the train while these three persons befriended him. They offered Haque the drugged biscuits. Just after consuming the biscuit, Haque lost consciousness. But luckily, the CID team of RPF was following them and bbed them. Haque was sent to hospital for treatment. A case has been registered and enquiry has started,” said the IC, New Bongaigaon GRP.
