Three arrested for traffic rule violations

SHILLONG, Aug 31:  Police on Monday arrested three persons for violating traffic rules.  The three were identified as, Md. Zafer Uddin Ahmed, Robin Sur and Shiva Chettri.   

According to police a case was registered against them at the Sadar police station and the trio were forwarded to the Court of L Kharshiing, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Shillong Court, who in an Order convicted them under section 110(1) (b) (e) Meghalaya Police Act and a fine of Rs 5000 was imposed upon them.

Meanwhile, one Garlandforth Kharsyntiew  was arrested and booked under various section of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

According to police a case was registered against him at the Mawlai Traffic Branch and was forwarded to the Court of L Kharshiing, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Shillong Court.

The accused was convicted under sections 181/185 of the Motor Vehicle Act as the accused was driven the vehicle without holding any license and under the influence of alcohol. A fine of Rs 2500 was imposed upon him.
