Three Arrested With Drugs In Fatasil Ambari, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Fatasil Ambari police raided the house of one Moon Mazumdar at Rathkhola in Fatasil Ambari on Saturday night and arrested him and two others – Rajib Hazarika and Hirokjyoti Barman, besides seizing 11 grams of drugs from them. The drugs were kept concealed in a soap case. A case (241/19 under section 21(b) of NDPS Act) has been registered in this connection. The three were produced before the court that sent them to the judicial remand.

With drugs business glutting the markets, a sudden escalation in its smuggling has been noticed since the past few days. Several arrests and drugs have been seized under numerous investigations. It is to be noted that in 2017, a massive contraband of drugs den was unearthed at SK Bhuyan Path, Ambari. In 2018, as many as 83 cases were registered under the NDPS Act as a sum total of the police stations in the city, where drugs worth Rs 1,49,08,908 were seized. These included cannabis, Brown Sugar, Heroin, Opium, etc. However, of the total amount, Rs 64,69,750 included of cannabis (ganja) only
