Three ASAK rebels arrested

SHILLONG, Dec 19: Three cadres of the A’Chik Song An’Pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) were today arrested from West Garo Hills region of the state.

According to police, the first arrest was made by the team from Tikrikilla police station wherein during counter insurgency operation one Wagat Sangma, of Kentapara village who is involved in many extortion, kidpping and murder cases was arrested from his house today early morning.

Meanwhile, based on the statement of Wagat, his accomplice - James Sangma (27) of Jengritgre has been arrested.

“He has admitted to have links with GNLA Rangdat and Indian also,” police said.

Meanwhile interrogation of both the arrested militant is on.

Further during another counter insurgency operation conducted today at Rongmasugre area by Dadenggre police station team in West Garo Hills district another ASAK cadre mely Rohenson Sangma (32) Rongmasugre village has been arrested.

According to police, Rohenson has admitted to have kidpped three persons from Barpeta, Assam.

“The victims were kept in his village area. Two victims were later murdered. His other accomplices have already been arrested,” police informed.
