Three band saw mills seized at Nagaon

NAGAON: In a joint drive by forest officials led by Nagaon ranger Nepal Mondal on Thursday morning, three illegal band saw mills were seized from greater Rupahihat in Nagaon.

According to sources, the officials had secret information about the illegal mills and on Thursday morning, they launched a special drive against the illegal trade and were able to seize the illegal band saw mills owned by Khairul Hussain, Karim Ali and Habe Ali of Rupahihat bazaar.

The forest department in the last couple of months has busted around 50 such illegal band saw mills and also seized more than 30 trucks of timber, stone and sand from various places in the district.
