Three Brazilians clinch Olympic berths at athletics test event

Rio de Janeiro, May 16: Three Brazilians recorded Olympic qualifying times on the second day of the Iberian-American athletics championships at Rio’s Olympic stadium.

In the men’s 800 metres fil, Lutimar Paes and Kleberson Davide secured their place at the first Olympics in South America by taking the gold and silver medals respectively here on Sunday, reports Xinhua news agency.

Davide clocked 1 minute 45.42 seconds while Kleberson finished in 1 minute 45.79 seconds. The Olympic qualifying standard for the event is 1 minute 46 seconds. In the women’s 400m, Jailma Lima earned a Rio 2016 berth with a time of 51.99 seconds. IANS
