Three-day I-Day celebration begins in Demow

DEMOW, Aug 13: The Government of Assam has decided to observe the 71st Independence Day with a three-day programme throughout the State and on Sunday, under the patroge of Sopur Social Development Society, an NGO, district administration, District Child Adolescent Cell (DCAC) in association with Child Protection Committee, the 71st Independence Day celebration started in Demow.

On Sunday, the programme started with Swacch Bharat Abhiyan in Athabari, Kharahat, Nitaipukhuri, Konwar Dehingia Gaon, Rajmai, Borbam, Demow and Dehajan schools and an awareness camp on using toilets.

An art competition was also organized in Nitaipukhuri. Different programmes will be organized in the remaining two days. In the programme, senior citizens of the area, gaon burah, Headmasters and teachers of the school, president and secretary of the Child Protection Committee and the members of the Sopur Social Development Society, an NGO, were present.
