Three-day pulse polio vaccition from Jan 29

Dibrugarh, Jan 21: A three-day pulse polio vaccition campaign will be launched from January 29 in the district to free children below 5 years from polio. A total of 1, 89,735 children will be vaccited during the campaign which is to be held till January 31. For the smooth functioning of the first phase of the pulse polio vaccition of 1,89, 735 children of Dibrugarh district, total 916 booths will be set up in various parts of the district  for which 183 supervisors and 3,600 health workers will be appointed. In this regard, a meeting of the District Task Force (DTF) was held at the DC Office on Saturday.The meeting was presided by the Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. Udayan Kumar Baruah. Though India got recognition as Polio-free tion, there lies a possibility of migration of polio virus from neighbouring countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan. Along with the other parts of the country, the pulse polio vaccition programme has been continuing in Assam as well.
