Three-day Samajik Chet Abhiyan held

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 25: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) launched a three-day Samajik Chet Abhiyan-cum-Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign at Balemu, Ankaling and Boha villages of West Kameng district of Aruchal Pradesh under the aegis of the 61st Bn. SSB, Bhairabkunda, sources from the SSB, Tezpur Frontier informed.

Iugurated by Som Tsering, a prominent leader, recently at Balemu village, the programme was organized in association with Songs and Drama Division, Guwahati. A.K. Mallik, DIG, Tezpur Sector, SSB, PN Kheimei, SP, Bomdila and officers from the district administration and   local leaders took part in the programme. The awareness programme on ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ was launched by staging a short drama, group discussion, symposium and cultural events.

The three-day awareness drive was marked with distribution of computer sets to students, blankets and aid to poor and disabled persons. Besides, free medical and veteriry camps and games and sports competition were also organized.
