Three-day tiol convention of Sahitya Akademi from today

DIBRUGARH, September 3: The three-day tiol convention of Sahitya Akademi will start here at Rang ghar Auditorium in Dibrugarh University from September 4.

The convention, organized by the Sahitya Akademi and first of its kind in Upper Assam, will conclude on September 6. The first day programme on September 4 will be marked by distribution of Sahitya Akademi award for Translation, which will be graced by Jnpith award winner and noted Indian writer Prathiva Roy.

President of Sahitya Akademi and noted poet of Hindi Literature, Biswath Prasad Tiwari and vice-president of Sahitya Akademi, Jnpith award winner and noted Kanda writer Chandrasekhar Kombo will attend the award-giving function as guests. The secretary of the Akademi, K. Srinivasan will welcome the guests and others. The function will be concluded with a musical function presented by intertiolly acclaimed Rajasthani folk singer, Anwar Khan Manganiar.

An intimate discussion will be held among the Sahitya Akademi award winners on September 5 at Indira Miri Conference Hall of DU tiol Writer’s convention. It will be iugurated by noted writer banita Dev Sen while Biswath Prasad Tiwari will preside over the function.  The Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain will attend the meeting as guest of honor.

A book fair on books published by Sahitya Akademi will also be held to mark the occasion.

The Assamese language coorditor of Sahitya Akademi Advisory Board, Prof. Karabi Deka Hazarika  has called upon all to extend their full cooperation and make the three-day function a grand success.
