Three-day workshop on robotics, solar panels held

From a Correspondent
Goalpara, July 24: Sainik School, Goalpara organized a three-day workshop recently on ‘Auto Robotics and Solar Panel and Smart Energy System’ for 120 selected cadets from Class X to Class XII. Research engineers from Harbour Technologies, in collaboration with IIT Mumbai, conducted the workshop which was received well by the students. Anshu Kumar and ndan Bisht attended the programme as the resource persons.  The cadets of Class IX and Class X were given opportunities to participate in the ‘Robotics’ session. On the other hand, the cadets of Class VII and Class VIII were imparted lessons on ‘Solar panels and Smart Energy System’. For effectiveness and practical know-how, the groups were further divided into another 12 sub-groups with 5 cadets in each group. Apart from creating an environment of practical approach towards teaching-learning in the classroom, the workshop also aimed at exposing the cadets to the emerging field like science and technology.
In ‘Robotics’, the cadets were introduced to the basic electronic components, stimulation software, designing circuit with micro controller, assembling of robots and movements of robots using embedded C language. The sessions on ‘Solar panels and Smart Energy System’ included importance of solar energy, basics of electrical circuit, soldiering techniques, circuit design using solar panel viz. mobile charger , solar powered fan, solar powered car, introduction to micro controller and light follower using embedded C language.
