Three dead, eight injured in road mishap

JORHAT, JAN 15: At least three youths died on the spot while eight others were seriously injured in several road mishaps on the night of uruka on Saturday, said police sources on Monday. According to Hemen Das, the officer in-charge of Sadar Police Station, Jorhat, three college students Pranjal Gogoi (19), Bodyuj Gogoi (19) and Mril Pegu (20) died on the spot while eight others received injuries in four different accidents within the district of Jorhat.
In Garali Rangajan, two bikers hit an electric post while travelling in a Pulsar bike and died on the spot. They were identified as Pranjaj Gogoi and Bodyuj Gogoi, both students of NN Saikia College, Titabor and they were returning from their friend’s place at Rangajan.  In the second accident, one Mril Pegu died at -ali Dhekiajuli after his bike lost control and hit a tree. Two bikes collided against each other on NH-37 bypass leaving four people seriously injured while in another accident at m Deouri, an auto-rickshaw and a bike collided against each other at a U-turn. All injured from the four accident sites were rushed to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital in a critical state, said police.
