Three dead, seven injured in road mishap

ITAGAR, April 20: Three persons died and seven others severely injured in a tragic road accident at Telam, in Assam-Aruchal border late yesterday afternoon. The accident occurred on the tiol Highway-37 when the speeding Tata Sumo rammed into a roadside tree at Telam.  Two persons – Yimar Angu and Dagyum Angu died on the spot while Horge Angu succumbed to his injuries at Ruksin hospital. Seven other injured persons include Rejom Ingu, Kiba Ingu, Kido cho, Geba Ingu, Itum Jini, Renya Ingo and Lijom Ango, who have been shifted to Pasighat General Hospital, official sources informed here today. All of them were from Jini village in West Siang district. According to report, the victims were returning to Aalo via Pasighat from Dipa in West Siang district. Simen Chapori Police in Assam is taking up the case and has sent the bodies to Dhemaji Civil Hospital for post mortem. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has announced ex-gratia relief of Rs 3 lakhs for the bereaved family of the deceased, Rs 1 lakh for the critically injured and Rs 50,000 for those injured in the Tata Sumo accident. The Chief Minister also made fincial contribution through his persol means for the victims. Pul assured to extend all possible help and support. He directed the Deputy Commissioners of West and East Siang to complete the relief process by Wednesday, and accordingly has been coorditing with the Assam police for early post-mortem formalities, the sources added.
