JOYSAGAR, May 4: Various road mishaps have been taking place in recent times in the districts of Sivasagar and Charaidew leading to the death of several persons while many others were seriously injured. Despite the district administration’s necessary measures to check road mishaps, such mishaps continue to take place. Conscious citizens are of the view that miserable condition of most of the PWD roads in the districts could be one of the prime reasons.
Besides, a large number of people still do not following the road safety norms while the menace of drunken driving only adds to the people’s dismay. On Thursday, three persons died in different road accidents in Sivasagar. One Bitupon Das of Namdang Gaon under Joysagar Police Station died on the spot in a road accident. He was riding home his motorcycle when he knocked down another motorcycle rider near Namdang river on NH-37 and died on the spot.
In another road mishap one Mandal BJP leader died on the spot near Salkathoni Tea Estate Bridge.
