Three drug smugglers bbed in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, May 11: Three persons were arrested by Dibrugarh Police under their ongoing operation against the drug traffickers and abusers in the district on Wednesday.

With the inputs provided during interrogation by the arrested drug traffickers, the police tracked down two drug traffickers Md. zir Ali (28)  and Rajdeep th (25) while they were trying to flee from police dragnet from Dibrugarh  to Guwahati. They were arrested at Joypur.

The police also bbed woman trafficker Rashmi Begum (22)    from Kalibari Pathar area this afternoon.  All the arrested persons are at present in police custody.

According to sources, the arrested drug traffickers during confession also stated that they had to pay Rs 30,000 per month to a newly-floated youth organization as protection money. The allegation put forward by the traffickers has been taken by police seriously and police have initiated efforts to ascertain the claim of the traffickers and to take necessary legal action irrespective of their social status.

In the last few weeks, the District Police have bbed quite a number of drug dealers and traffickers from the town and its nearby areas to make Dibrugarh a drug-free district.
