Three enforcement officials arrested

Staff Reporter

Guwahati, March 31: The CID on Saturday arrested three enforcement officials – enforcement inspector Chitrakumar th and enforcement checkers Mrigendra Sarma and Madhab Neog – in connection with the seizure of two overloaded coal-laden trucks in the Beltola area of Guwahati on March 2. The two trucks had crossed the Koidhara check gate on the outskirts of the city where the three officials had been deployed on that day.
The CID is investigating the coal syndicate operating in the State, causing huge loss of the public exchequer.
The CID on Saturday also interrogated three other enforcement officials – assistant enforcement inspectors Tapuram Bora, Anurag Sandilya and Bedanta Gogoi – at its headquarters in the city. All of them are on interim bail.
Five of the above enforcement officials, including those arrested, had been interrogated by the CID earlier too. Mrigendra Kalita, who has been arrested, did not present himself before the CID for interrogation on the earlier occasion.
CID sources said the enforcement officials on bail did not cooperate with the investigating team. The CID will convey this to court, they said.
