Three handed death pelty in murder case

Morigaon, April 22: District & Session Judge, Morigaon,  Ikramul Hussain on Wednesday awarded death sentence to three persons, Mohan Teron, Sanjay Chandra and Bhim Das in case no.27/13 for murdering Arup Dutta.

According to public prosecuter Purnendu Dey, Arup Dutta was kidpped from Jagiroad by the accused persons on July 1, 2011. Dutta was taken to Amguri hill of Karbi Anglong district. The accused persons later demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom to release Dutta. His father lodged an FIR at Jagiroad PS under 237/11 and police started investigation.

Dutta was killed three days after being kidpped. But his father received phone calls from the accused persons several times on 17.7.2011. In the police investigation it was revealed that Dutta was beheaded with a sword by the accused persons. Police registered the case no 27/11 and after one month, the trio was arrested.

In the judgement, the judge observed that the diabolical murder case was the rarest of the rare since the murderers even demanded money after killing Dutta.
