Three hardcore LAEF cadres bbed

SHILLONG, Dec 2: Based on specific information, the army on Wednesday moening launched operation in Kukarkata area of Goalpara in Lower Assam and apprehended three hardcore cadres of the proscribed Liberation of Achik Elite Force (LAEF).

The apprehended cadres have been identified as Sgt Maj Charan Marak nee Chukhan,, Corporal Walter Marak nee Gingjong and Lance Corporal Let Marak nee Rongdot.

A defense press release informed that they had undergone training at NSCN’s Hebron Camp in galand and in the training camps in North Garo Hills.

Two AK series rifles, two magazines, 30 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, and some incrimiting documents were also recovered from them.

It may be recalled that Liberation of Achik Elite Force (LAEF) is a hardcore Garo hills based militant outfit which has been active since 2005

The defense release stated that the apprehension of these three top cadres of the outfit will further diminish the group’s ability to operate.
