Three human traffickers bbed, minor rescued

TANGLA, Oct 19: Acting on a tip-off, troops of 37 Bn SSB Mangaldai deployed at BOP Noikhuti along the Indo-Bhutan border village of Udalguri, assisted by local AASAA activists, apprehended three suspected human traffickers and rescued a minor girl near Tangla railway station on Wednesday evening. “The minor girl was rescued in the nick of time from the dragnet of the three traffickers who were attempting to take her to Delhi from Tangla railway station,” police said.

The trio, who are in their late 20s, were identified as Rajesh Kujur  and Vinod Chauhan of Sikari Bangla and Turibari village respectively under Dimakuchi PS of Udalguri while the third, Manik Kachari is a resident of Bartangla village under Tangla PS, sources added.

The 37 Bn SSB team after prelimiry questioning, lodged an FIR and handed them over to Tangla PS. They have been booked vide case no.140/17 under section 370(4) IPC and forwarded to judicial custody on Thursday.
