Three injured in road mishap on returning from picnic in Bogamati

Dimakuchi: A picnic trip turned fatal for a group of friends in Attarekhat as three of them were severely injured in a road accident on Friday evening. According to reports, a group of friends from Chandmari in Guwahati had come for a picnic to Bogamati picnic spot. On their return journey, the Tata Indigo in which they were travelling lost control and turned upside down. The injured have been identified as Rohit Kumar Roy, John Paul Tirkey and Ananda Mishra. Khagrabari Outpost in-charge Anil Sonowal said that the accident was caused due to drunken driving. The three have been seriously injured and sent to hospital for treatment. The Udalguri-Tamulpur road, which is under construction, has seen many accidents before its completion. Moreover, drink and drive has become so common that fatal accidents occur. A picnic spot should be an alcohol-free zone.
