Three killed, five injured in road mishap

DIGBOI June 8: In a tragic road mishap that occurred on NH 38 on Thursday morning at Ramgar Digboi in Tinsukia district, three people died on the spot while four were injured severely. Among the deceased included Karan Ikka (22), Prem Garh (23) and Sunder g (25), all residents of Bogapani TE lines doing contractual jobs under ASEB Digboi. They were on duty and heading towards the office on a small mini truck already loaded with departmental gadgets. They were part of a 11-member team.

According to eye witness on the highway, the incident took place when a Bolero Max pick-up commercial van heading towards gaon, while overtaking, collided with the already overloaded ASEB mini truck, thereby causing the tragedy. Of the 11 on-board workers, three breathed their last due to head injury, five were referred to Tinsukia Civil Hospital for better treatment while remaining three were unhurt.

Meanwhile, a team of Digboi police Station brought the vehicles under legal custody and acting swiftly, arrested Saddam Hussain, a fishmonger who was on one of the ill-fated vehicles while the remaining two traders with him, including the driver, are at large.
