Three killed, four injured in road accident

GAURISAGAR, Dec 25: Three persons killed and  four others injured in a road accident that took place at Jhanji Phulpanchiga, 8 km away from Gaurisagar police station in Sivasagar district on Sunday morning at about 2.25 am near a ditch  beside NH-37.

According to reports, a vegetable-laden truck bearing registration no AS-02E-6289 coming from Nowgaon to Demow Rajmai weekly market  in Sivasagar,  suddenly skidded off  the NH-37 and turned turtle at Dighalijan, a rivulet  under the culvert on NH-37. In the accident, three vegetable traders  mely  Rakibul Islam (20) of Dakhinputa Kalong  village  under Rupahihat P.S in Nowgaon, Nur Islam (48) and Fakaruddin (45) of Tekeliputa village under Samaguri P.S in Nowgaon  district died on spot

On the other hand, Babul Das (34), Saidul Islam (22), Md Ismile (28) and Azijul Islam, all from Nowgaon, sustained injuries. Having received information about the accident from VDP Dadu Borah, officer in-charge of Gaurisagar Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies  from the ill-fated truck.

The injured have been shifted to Sibsagar Civil Hospital by 108 services. After postmortem, the bodies were handed over to their respective families.
