Three killed in road accident

Tezpur, Feb 26:Sensation prevailed at Bihaguri Sagoli Ahot area under Puthimari PS in Sonitpur district on Sunday after a gas tanker hit a tree at Saholiahot on NH-15. According to police, a gas-filled LPG tanker with registration number NL-02Q-2009 hit a tree after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The tanker, before hitting the tree, mowed down two pedestrians, an aged man and his grand-daughter who were identified as Madan Baruah and Debashree Baruah (7). Police informed that the driver of the ill-fated tanker, Mokbul Hussain Talukdar also died on the spot. After the accident, panic gripped the entire area as gas was leaking from the tanker.Ten fire tenders were pressed into service and filly the situation was brought under control after three hours of operation.
