Three MTFA rebels held in Chirang

GUWAHATI/BONGAIGAON, Dec 12: The Army in a joint operation with police apprehended three Muslim Tiger Force of Assam (MTFA) rebels in Chirang district.  An Army official in Guwahati said that based on specific intelligence regarding movement of some suspected cadres of MTFA in a white vehicle moving from Salbari to Manikpur, a joint mobile check post was set up by Army and Chirang Police in the wee hours today. The suspected vehicle was stopped and three suspected cadres of MTFA were apprehended at 12.30 pm.  They have been identified as Sayfer Ali, 34, of Tharigram Bhita, in Dhubri district, Saddam Hussain Tulakdar, (22) of Sarpahari in Kokrajhar district and Jantul Am Ahmed, 33, of Bashjanipar in Dhubri district, said the official. Three 7.65 mm pistols, two magazines, seven live rounds, one crude bomb and some incrementing documents were recovered from the apprehended cadres, he added.

It may be recalled that from a long time there have been reports of influx of Jehadi terrorist in the region and the Army has been keeping a special vigil on this to stem the problem in its root.
