Three MULTA linkmen arrested, 7 rifles recovered

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 18: Ahead of the celebration of Republic Day, the Assam Police and Red Horns Division of the army, based on specific inputs from intelligence, launched an operation in the late hours of Tuesday in the area of yekgaon in Kokrajhar district and apprehended three Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) linkmen. During the search operation, the team apprehended three persons moving suspiciously. The three men were identified as Zehrul Islam, Javed Ali, and Aziz Ali, all residents Takuamari village of Bongaigaon district. The three have confessed to be linkmen and gun runners for Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam. Seven rifles were recovered from the possession of the linkmen. The men were also involved in extortion and arms dealing activities on behalf of the group.
