Three nomitions withdrawn in Darrang, 40 candidates in fray

MANGALDAI, March 26: With the withdrawal of the nomition papers of three independent candidates on the date of withdrawal on Saturday, filly a total of 40 out of 43 candidates will appear in the battle for supremacy in the four assembly constituencies under Darrang Election District scheduled to be held in the second phase of polls on April 11.

Of these three independent candidates, two are in 67 Mangaldai (SC) while the other is in 68 Dalgaon LAC, as informed by Election Officer of Mangaldai, Rahul Ch Das.  Both the aggrieved BJP activists Pinku Mani Das and Ranendra Kr Sarkar who were denied the nomition by the BJP in Mangaldai and Hafijur Rahman in Dalgaon have withdrawn their nomition papers.

The fil candidates left for the fil battle of EVM in the four assembly constituencies are  65 Kalaigaon- Maheswar Boro ( BPF), thu Ram Boro (AIUDF), Mukunda Ram Choudhury (AGP), Babul Basumatary (UPP), Indrajit Kumar Saikia (INC), (Ind), Jitendra Chaliha ( SUCI), Sudhendu Mohan Talukdar (Bharatiya Ga Parishad), Sushil Kr. Sarma (LJP), Aroon Barooa (New All India Congress Party) and independent candidates Brajen Mahanta  Dr. yan Moni Bhagawati,  Radhe Shyam Chouhan, Gopal Sarkar, Bijoy Das and Abdul Sabur respectively.  

For 66 Sipajhar the candidates are Dr. Zoii th Sarma (INC), Binda Kumar Saikia (BJP), Syed Abdullah (AIUDF),  Paheswari Barua of SUCI (C), Sarat Chandra Sarma ( Voters party Intertiol), Thaneswar Das ( Lok Jasakti Party), Tridib Sarma ( Republican Party of India), and Independent candidates mely  Jayanta Saharia, Amiya Kumar Deka, Rejaul Hoque and Umesh Bania.

For 67 Mangaldai (SC) LAC, the candidates are Basanta Das (INC), Guru Jyoti Das (BJP), Hiren Kumar Das (AIUDF), Bhupen Das (Lok Ja Sakti Party) and Independent candidates mely Arjun Das, Jagadish Ch Sarkar and Jitendra Sarkar.

For 68 Dalgaon LAC, the candidates are Illias Ali (INC), Mazibur Rahman (AIUDF), Habibar Rahman (AGP), Ahmed Ali (Lok Jasakti Party), Sarifuddin Ahmed (Rastriya Secular Congress) and Independent candidates Abdur Rahim and Mustafa Farook Ahmed.
