Three NSCN (IM) rebels bbed at Kanubari

ITAGAR, May 8: Three hardcore NSCN (IM) cadres were bbed in a joint operation by Army and local police on May 6 at Kanubari in Longding district of Aruchal Pradesh.

Acting on a tip off on the presence of NSCN (IM) cadres in Kanubari to disrupt election activities, a column of 4th Sikh Regiment and Kanubari Police made extensive search operation after cordoning the area and were successful in apprehending the ultras, an official release informed here today.  Three pistols, one hand grede, 20 live rounds of 7.62, five .22 live rounds, 30 grams of opium smeared in cloth and extortion letter addressed to the two contesting candidates in the May 16 Kanubari bye-election were recovered from the NSCN (IM) cadres.

The arrested cadres were identified as Panglem Wangpan (32 years) Political Officer of the outfit who hails from Longsom village in the district, Second Lieuten Hiwan Boham (25) from Olingtong village under Longing district and Second Lieutent Aton Konyak (26) from Tizit, under Mon district of galand. A case has been registered and further investigations are on, the release added.
