Three poachers arrested

MANGALDAI, July 26: In a significant joint operation of police team from Dhula and Shyampur Police Station in Darrang,  three veteran poachers were arrested in the wee hours of Wednesday from different locations of gaon and Darrang districts. The three arrested poachers have been identified as Noor Hussain (53) of Rupahi in gaon district, Abdul Hasem (58) of Dimbu Char and Edris Ali (56) of Garibor Char in Darrang. They confessed before police during interrogation about their involvement in the poaching of a rhino in Orang tiol Park on June 22. They also admitted hiring two sharp shooters from galand two kill the rhino and chopping off the horn weighing around 750 gm. Police, however, are yet to recover the horn which had reportedly been carried away by one of the absconding wives of the accused Edris Ali.
