FROM A CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, Dec 10: Opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) legislator from Sohra constituency Titossterwell Chyne on Saturday iugurated three projects at Kongthong village. The three projects include- Kongthong Water Supply Scheme built at a cost of Rs 75.28 lakh, extension of the Kongthong Presbyterian LP school that was built at a cost of Rs 3 lakh from the Rajya Sabha MP scheme and community hall of the Dorbar Shnong of the village at a cost of Rs 5 lakh built by the Department of Border Area. Speaking during the iuguration function, Chyne said that even though he is in the Opposition yet it was due to his effort that those schemes saw the light of day. The Sohra legislator said that the construction of a road from Kongthong to Mawmang, funded by the Department of Border Area, has already been initiated. "Many villages of Khatar Shnong area in the Sohra constituency are deprived of roads. I give assurance of connecting the villages of Warbah, Sder and other unconnected villages with proper roads as people from these villages have to walk for hours to reach areas which are connected with roads," Chyne added.
