Three rhinos found dead in Bengal tiol park

Kolkata, January 25: Three rhino deaths were reported in the past week in north–west Bengal’s Jaldapara tiol Park, a forest official said on Sunday. The carcasses were found during an official count at Jaldapara park – the second largest habitat of one–horned rhinos in India after the Kaziranga tiol Park in Assam.

“While the rhinos that were found dead on January 22 and 23 died due to tural causes, we are yet to ascertain the cause of death of the third one discovered Saturday. Poaching can’t be ruled out, but so far it looks unlikely,” state chief wildlife warden Ujjwal Bhattacharya said. (IANS)
