Three school girls missing, human trafficking suspected

TANGLA, Nov 6: At a time when there have been reports of missing persons in Udalguri district and active presence of human trafficking groups, three girls went missing from Dhansirighat of Orang in Udalguri district on Saturday. Reportedly, the three girls mely mrata Karki Chetry (14), Pratiksha Bhattarai (14) and Manika Devi Ghimire (14) are missing since Saturday. Family members and local people suspect that the girls have fallen prey to human trafficking groups which have been very active in this part of the State. All the three girls are inhabitants of Jamuguri village of Dhansrighat under Orang PS in Udalguri.  They are reportedly Class IX students of lbari High School of Dhansrighat in Udalguri. Police are yet to find any clue to trace the girls. Meanwhile, All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union and Gorkha Sanmilon have appealed the police authorities to immediately jump into action and rescue the children. The family members of the girls have also lodged a missing complaint at Orang PS in Udalguri.
