KOKRAJHAR: In a major breakthrough, Serfanguri Police Station on Tuesday evening detained three trucks loaded with fertilizers brought without proper documents and apprehended six drivers and handymen.

The Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh said the trucks loaded with fertilizers without any documents were coming from Siliguri of West Bengal and were supposed to go to Silchar when they were detained near Serfanguri in Kokrajhar district. The trucks bearing registration numbers-AS-01 KC/ 5547, AS-19 AC/ 1171 and AS-01 KC/ 5557 were full of fertilizers bags. The arrested drivers have been identified as Firdos Ali, Gulzar Hussain and Jahidul Islam while the handymen are Abdul Barik, Aminul Haque and Monirul Zaman. Singh quoted the drivers as saying that initially they were taking the trucks to Silchar but the consignment was smuggled to Myanmar via Mizoram. He also said a case had been registered and further investigation was going on.
