Three ULFA (I) rebels, 1 NDFB (S) cadre bbed

BISWATH CHARIALI, April 29: Three militants belonging to  ULFA (I) were bbed with arms in a joint operation by the army and police last night from Kutumghat area under Gahpur police station in Sonitpur district.

The detained rebels have been identified as Hemanta Saikia , Debojit Gogoi and Dwipen Sahu,police sources said.

Police  sources said two pistols, two magazines and several rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the possession of the detained rebels.

The three ULFA (I) cadres were arrested by a team of Army and police while they were trying to cross Brahmaputra river by a boat. The arrested cadres have been sent to police remand for further interrogation, sources added.

In another incident , a joint team of Army and Police apprehended one NDFB (S) cadre in Kokrajhar district. The apprehended has been identified as Sachin Brahma alias Lala who belongs to village Bhelakupa in Parbatjhora sub division in Kokrajhar district. One 9 mm pistol and ammunition was recovered from the  rebel, an Army official said.

Defence PRO  Lt Col Suneet Newton said that the detained militant were involved in extortion activities in the past and providing information about movement of security forces presently conducting relentless operations against NDFB(S).

The joint operation is a major blow to the organization & their evil design to harm the peace and harmony in order to re-establish itself as a major terrorist group, Newton added.
