'Tibetan refugees availing APST facilities illegally'

ITAGAR, Aug 1: All Aruchal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has demanded immediate cancellation of various types of licenses, certificates issued to Tibetan refugees without proper investigation.

In its representation to the Chief Secretary, AAPSU claimed that many Tibetan refugees settling in the state have obtained trading and arm licences, voter ID cards, Schedule Tribes (ST) certificate, contractor registration certificate, land allotment certificates issued by various Govt. authorities/departments without making proper investigation. Even, many Tibetan refugees have obtained income tax exemption certificate claiming themselves as Monpa and Sherdukpen tribes of West Kameng and Tawang, it claimed.

AAPSU cited an example of one such suspected Tibetan refugee, who have class one contractor’s registration certificate where he refrained himself from mentioning his father’s title.

They are availing these facilities meant only for the Scheduled Tribes people of Aruchal Pradesh in spite of enjoying various other facilities like land (for their settlement), school for education, shelter for old persons, health centers, machineries (tractor) for agri-horti activities and other micro and small industries provided by the government, claimed the representation.
