Tie up with AGP for 2019 LS polls uncertain: BJP

GUWAHATI, May 3: With the 2019 Lok Sabha polls seemingly less than a year away, the ruling BJP is beginning to gear up with a view to recapturing the seat of power. On this count, the  national president of the saffron party Amit Shah has already begun burning mid-night oil. On May Shah will be visiting Assam  to attend a meeting of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) in the city on May 20. Besides addressing the NDA  meeting, he will also interact with the Chief Ministers of the North-east belonging to the NEDA.

On the other hand, the central executive committee of the BJP will decide whether or not the party would enter into a tie up with the AGP in the next Lok Sabha polls. While the saffron party is going ahead with organizational work in the State, it is of the view that if a tie up with the regional party finally materializes, it may be beneficial to both the parties.  This was stated by BJP Assam unit president Ranjit Dass at a press meet held at the State BJP headquarters in Guwahati today.

The state president said that keeping in view the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the party State unit has already begun the ground work across the length and breadth of the State to come out with flying colours in the polls.

Dass faurther said that on May 18 andd 19 the executive meeting of State unit of the BJP will be held in Nalbari With the BJP Government at the Centre having completed four years and the BJP-led State Government having completed two years, the party will celebrate the anniversaries on May 24, 25 and 26, Dass informed. Dass further said that as per Amit Shah’s directive organizational work is in full swing in Assam and that the process of appointing Prista Promokh (page in-charge)  has already started

The State BJP chief said, “The organizational work of the party is in progress under the supervision of 38 organisational districts covering 303 mandal samitis in 25, 849 booth committees. In Nalbari Lok Sabha constituency 3.33 lakh Prista Promokhs would be appointed and as a beginning 3100 Prista Promokhs have been appointed in the constituency. Henceforth Prista Promokhs would be appointed on a single day for an Assembly constituency in a Lok Sabha constituency. From May 7 to May 16, the process of appointing Prista Promokhs would begin in Mangaldai Lok Sabha constituency during which the 10 Assembly segments of Mangaldai Parliamentary constituency would be covered.  Next Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency would be taken up and in the same manner the process would continue across the State.” Dass further informed that on May 27 the district executive meetings of the BJP would be held across the state and that on June 3 mandal executive meetings would be held.
