Ties with US not to impact relations with Beijing, Moscow: India

New Delhi, June 19: India on Sunday said that its growing engagement with the US will not impact its relations with countries like Russia and Chi nor this will dilute New Delhi’s commitment to forums like the Non-Aligned Movement (M).

“It is true we have enhanced engagement with the US now. But that does not impact our relations with Russia or Chi. Nor the growing Indo-US relations will put at stake our tiol interest,” Exterl Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj told reporters here. She said similarly no question arises about diluting India’s decade-long stand on the M. “Our Prime Minister (rendra Modi) has himself said that M is like our heritage,” she said. The minister also expressed satisfaction that India has been desigted as a major defence partner by the US but said, details of technology transfer and other issues will be worked out in due time.
