Timber smuggler bbed by SSB

KOKRAJHAR, March 6: Based on intelligence input, an operation was launched by the troops of Coy, Dadgiri under 16th Bn.SSB, Ranighuli on Saturday in the village area of kedara which is around 11 km south from border pillar No. 169/5 in Chirang district, and the team succeeded in apprehending one timber smuggler along with the Tata pick-up van which was fully loaded with wooden logs, on Sunday morning.

Sources said the market value of those wooden logs could be around Rs. 1,00,000. The apprehended timber smuggler was identified as Sumial Basumatary (37) son of Manwaru Basumatary, a resident of Samudisha of Chirang district. During interrogation it was found out that the timber smuggler had been involved in timber smuggling since many days. After interrogation, the timber smuggler was handed over to forest range office, Runikhata.
