Timber worth Rs 15 lakh seized

Bongaigaon, May 6:  Illegal wood worth around Rs 15 lakh was seized on Wednesday by forest department officials in NH - 31 at Chapaguri area in Bongaigaon district. A forest official said that they bbed a truck (WB-59-A-0742) going to Barpeta Road following previous information. “The truck was coming from Kokrajhar and it was loaded with illegal teak and Titachap wood worth around Rs 15 lakh. In our forest camp at Chapaguri we stopped the truck. But while we were checking the truck, the driver and handyman of the truck escaped.  The truck had been taken to our forest camp,” the official said.
