Time was too short to prepare myself for Rio: Dutee

GUWAHATI, Sep 2: Olympian and star athlete of India Dutee Chand arrived in Guwahati on Friday to take part in the Abhiruchi Sports Day. The day-long event will be held on Saturday.

Dutee, who participated in women 100mts event in the Rio Olympic recently, will lead the mass jogging and will also attend the felicitation function.

Talking exclusively to The Sentinel Dutee, who hails from Odisha, said that she didn’t get enough time to prepare herself for the Rio Olympics.  “ I was qualified for the Olympic just one month before the event. So practically I didn’t get time to prepare myself for such a huge competition. However I don’t want to make it an excuse”.

Regarding her future plan Dutee, who is visiting Guwahti for the second time, said, “ I have not chalked out my plan yet. Next Olympic will be held four years later and I want to prepare myself step by step. “

She also added that to perform consistently in the Intertiol circuit Indian athletes must get the support of scientific training. According to her, talent will not be enough unless it get the back up of scientific training.

Meanwhile deck is ready to host the 33rd Abhiruchi Sports Day. The central function in Guwahati will start with mass jogging at 6-15am which will be flagged off by Health minister Himanta  Biswa Sarma. The programme will also be attended by Sports Minister ba Kumar Doley,  first Arju award winner of Assam Bhogeswar Baruah along with Dutee Chand. The event will be followed by Group Dance and PT competition.   Later 45 players, whom represented India last year, will be felicitated in the evening.
