Tinsukia administration gears up for by-poll

TINSUKIA, October 27: With the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct, the Tinsukia district administration has geared up for by-election of Tinsukia administrative segment of 14 Lakhimpur HPC which will be held on November 19. Briefing media persons on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Ranjan Chakraborty said a total of 452 polling stations (PS) would cover 160 PS of 125 Doomdooma LAC, 198 PS of 126 Sadiya LAC and 94 PS out of 189 PS of 121 Chabua LAC, adding that the maximum ceiling of expenditure for a candidate had been fixed at Rs 70 lakh. The election would be held as per the fil electoral roll published as per the qualifying date October 1, 2016, he informed. While various cells and teams as per EC guidelines have already been constituted with in-charge officers, the polling stations have been categorized on the basis of sensitivity. Among others who detailed the preparedness were Partha Pratim Bairagi, ADC, Biswajit Phukan, election officer and Prakash Sonowal, Additiol SP security.
