Tinsukia AGP leader quits party

TINSUKIA, May 8:  AGP’s Tinsukia district committee leader Karan Bahadur Chetry resigned from the primary membership of the party today. Chetry, who served as the general secretary of the Gorkha cell of the party as well as member of AGP’s general council, resigned from all party posts.

He said that due certain uvoidable reasons, he has decided to resign from the party.

Reacting on Chetry’s resigtion a central committee leader of  AGP working said that his resigtion was definitely a loss to the party but the AGP was sure of filling up the void.

It may be mentioned that former Asom Ga Parishad MLA of Titabor Assembly constituency Hemanta Kalita resigned from the party on April 18 and joined BJP.

Kalita had joined the BJP in presence of the State president Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Jorhat MP Kamakya Tasa and several other party members at a meeting in Jorhat district library auditorium. Not only that, former Assembly Speaker Pulakesh Barua  also joined the BJP on April 29 deserting AGP.

Some of the prominent AGP leaders to join the BJP recently are former AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary, senior AGP leaders and former ministers Hitendra th Goswami and Atul Bora (senior).
