Tinsukia College students' body election held

TINSUKIA, September 22: In keenly contested students’ union election of Tinsukia College (TCSU), which was held amid sporadic clashes on Wednesday, significantly majority of the candidates backed by various student unions or student wings of political parties faced defeat at the hands of independent candidates.

With a total of 34 candidates who were in the fray for 13 portfolios, Rahul Sharma and Sidhartha Saikia were elected as president and general secretary respectively. The other elected members of TCSU are Albab Lori as vice-president, Ravi Kr Raut as assistant general secretary,  Pragyan Sonowal as outdoor games secretary, Partho Pratim Borah as indoor games secretary, Brineej Jyoti Baruah as cultural secretary, Vishal Dubey as literary and debate secretary, Vishal Kr Sahani as gymsium secretary, Sandeep Sah as social service secretary, Amit Kr Dubey as boys’ common room secretary, Debi Saikia as girls’ common room secretary and Utpal Baruah as magazine secretary.
